Teachers: Our Promises and Procedures:
The educators and support staff that Blackboard Rulers supplies can be sure that:
- We seek deployments for which give our teachers the best opportunity to shine and to enjoy their work.
- We won’t send our teachers into bad schools. In fact entire areas are off-limits!
- That goes for daily supply, long-term or permanent needs.
- Our teachers are paid well - a minimum of £120 per day.
- Our teachers are paid promptly. Our ‘pay-as-you-go’ system means you’re not always a week behind.
- You’ll get any necessary support from another teacher. That means we’re practical and empathic!
- We give you access to up-to-date CPD information and resources – via this site and through mailings.
- We pay very generous finders’ bonuses, both to those who introduce us to schools and teachers.
- We will also try to find you a long-term or permanent post if that’s what you want. To that end we send out a list to schools across London, every week, telling them about the teachers on our lists.
- We can provide opportunities for private tuition if you’d like to work extra hours.
BEFORE TEACHERS ARE DEPLOYED FOR SUPPLY, LONG-TERM OR PERMANENT POSTS WE ALWAYS:
- Run a full CRB check in the UK, even if candidates claim to have not been here before
- Make a List 99 check to ensure that candidates are not blacklisted teachers
- Require criminal clearance from a candidate’s home country if they’re not British
- Make a face-to-face photo ID check (using a passport and/or driving licence) during an interview
- Require proof of a candidate’s ID in another form such as a birth certificate
- Need a list of residences for the last 5 years
- Need two separate proofs of a candidate’s current address (e.g. bank statement, utilities / council tax bill)
- Need proofs of qualification to teach (ideally the originals, and English translations may be required)
- Ask for details of two referees including one who can assess work in a candidate’s most recent teaching post (the training establishment is used where the candidate is a Newly Qualified Teacher or NQT)
- Check that teachers have a National Insurance number (NINo)
- Ask for proof of GTC registration – very much recommended though not yet a legal requirement
- Need to see a marriage certificate (where there is a name change)
- Make checks on current CVs to establish reliability and explain any gaps in employment
- Need proof of eligibility to work in the UK and confirmation of a candidate’s right to reside and work here.
- Ask for proof of enrolment on the Worker Registration Scheme if candidates are from the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia or Slovenia
NB We will, of course, also need all of your bank account details!
